An Apple a Day

It can't all be catch up.... That is boring and then I would be doing it catching up... catching up.  Not today!!  So, yesterday Finn and I went and picked some apples with our new friends, the Osbornes.  It was a beautiful Fall day and we picked a whole bucket full of  gorgeous Pink Ladies.  They are sweet with a hint of tartness to them.  They will make the perfect... pie, apple chips, applesauce etc.  I am making apple fruit leather as I type this.  My house smells divine!!

Last year it rained A LOT and there were no pumpkins in MOCO to be found.  Nice to see so many this year.  We do love our pumpkins and are going to go and get some more on Monday.  Everyone needs their own pumpkin.

Koa and Arnica LOVE apples. I think the kids all ate their weight in apples.  Yum!!

Ready or not....!!

I think I am ready to become a SOCCER MOM!  Both boys are really enjoying the game and are getting better and better.  Tate and Gabe both prefer to be defenders and Gabe has a smallish desire to be a goalie.  Yikes!  I think this will definitely be the team sport for Tate and at least the sport for one season of the year for Gabe.  They are on good teams with a lot of potential.  These pics were taken in the last games of the spring season.  I do love soccer, but I really love when the season is OVER!!! Here is to two more weeks of Fall season!  Yea!!!

In the blink of an eye

Life is busy and time really does fly.... One morning you wake up, and BAM....!!!....your sweet, quiet, sensitive, creative boy is graduating from Elementary School.  Still, I can hardly believe that Tate is in Middle School.  I wake him up every morning with dread that he will have to hear bad language, witness bad behavior and has been left friendless in such a hostile place.  Coleman ignores it and is engrossed in school.  Tate watches and takes it all in.  It might even damage him a little... I hate that.  On a positive note, Tate is working hard at Lakelands.  He has a lot against him with his attention and focus hurdles, but he plugs on and is getting very good grades.  We pretty much work together every night.  At the end of the school year, we will either be the best of friends or the worst of enemies. I am thinking FRIENDS.  At least I get to use my brain.  Ask me about Specialization or Trade or Economic Decision Making..... I just might be able to tell you the definition AND give an example!  Ha ha!!

I have to admit I really felt sad at Tate's graduation.  He has been fairly sheltered at DES.  His best friend is going to another school and the other friends are really friends by association.  This combination makes for a rough start at MS.  Another worry.... another reason to get on my knees.  I know Tate will be fine, but I don't know if he will be happy.  I think I will find him another place next year.  In fact, I know I will.  Coleman wanted to stay at LPMS.  Why?  I do not know.  I don't think Tate will feel the same and certainly there will be no love lost if I leave that school and never come back.

I didn't mean for this to be a sappy "journal entry".... I just wanted to show Tate's graduation pics and be happy that that was accomplished.  Another post remembered and captured.... and a little less guilt on my part.  BUT..... our life is different this school year.  I am different.  Believe it or not, I do yell less.  I am trying and succeeding in connecting with my kids more.  We have a better night routine (most nights....).  Eric is reading with Tate.  We take turns reading with Gabe and Finn.  Coleman and I have been reading the scriptures together.  We talk more, love more, endure more, run around more, are learning more and are becoming a better family.  I have never been more busy.  I feel like I am running all day until I fall into bed.  I still need to schedule my time better and get my chubby body into shape, my stuffed closets sorted out and organized, improve on my scripture reading and a list of other things BUT I am doing better.  We are doing better.  My last thought is I have learned that when you are trying hard to make your life better and more meaningful, it will fall into place and happen.  The Lord loves us, loves me and knows that we want to be better in all aspects of our lives.  I want to be the person He put me on this earth to be.  And with that..... happy graduation Tate.  We love you and are so proud of you.

Life is good.  Yes, life is good.

Dr. Who

Dr. Who... what???  I feel like a "time traveler".  Truly.  I love my blog, but I love sleep more.  I went through what I documented and what I neglected and..... as usual I cannot make myself leave out  important and funny events  just because it was months and months ago.  So, there will be many Dr. Who posts..... both of the past, present and maybe future and I have no more excuses, just good intentions.  The Easter pics cracked me up (and as you can see are out of order... thank you new and screwy format.... I strongly dislike you!!).  So many funny faces and emotions.  Easter is always a little casual in our home.  I do not like the Easter bunny and have never made much of that Easter concept.  Easter is about Jesus (period).  I do like egg dying, hunting and a fun basket for the darlings, but we don't really even talk about the Easter bunny.  Funny my kids have never really asked.... Good thing too!!  This next Easter we will be in Oregon for spring break.  That will be fun because these holidays are always more special when spent with family near and far!!

Check out Tate's face.... Lol!
Well, hello Gwenn!

Gabi.  A true egg dyer to the end!

Time flies....

My baby is getting so old.... He is 4 going on 14.  He is in preschool, soccer and is better on my phone and all the apps than I am.   He is full of questions, sass, fun and loves.  My life in ways is getting easier or rather more manageable, but I miss the baby or toddler in the house....at times.  I wish I would have stressed less, loved more and slowly enjoyed my children and their life  stages.

I am slowing down, making more time for the important things, yelling less and loving more.  I wish I would have done it a lot sooner.

He sure is cute huh?!!?

Today I got a text that I have needed for a while.  It only consisted of three words and made me cry.  I have a lot of catching up to do in many aspects of my life, including my blog.  Life is so busy.  I need to prioritize better.  Thank you friend.

I miss you.
